"My name’s Leah and like you, my ancestors originated in Africa many thousands of years ago. But I’m not from Africa.

My ancestors headed north, up through Egypt and on into countries like Israel, Syria and Turkey, before eventually settling in Western Europe. Some may have carried on a little further still into Scandinavia.

They didn’t do it in one go of course. They probably spent several thousand years in the near east before continuing their epic journey.

But knowing where they finally settled has helped me answer that age old question – where do I come from? It explains too, why I’ve always felt a curious affinity with that part of the world."
