There are two tests you can take – a paternal Y-chromosome test and a maternal mtDNA test. It’s entirely up to you which one you want to trace – mother, father, or both. Once you have purchased your test(s) your testing kit(s) will be sent out to you within two working days. Once our lab has received the samples, your results will be emailed to you within four weeks. |

Who can take this test?
Because the Y-chromosome is only passed down from father to son, you will only be able to take this test yourself if you are male. You can still order this test if you are female. All you need to do is get one of the males in your family (such as your father, his father or your brother) to provide a sample.

Who can take this test?
Males or females. Unlike the Y-chromosome, mtDNA is passed from a mother to all her children – whether they’re male or female.
